New member here,  I have a 1999 Frontier SX with about 55,000 miles on it.   Does anyone know what the inline 4 and the V6 engines weigh.  I'm thinking about some odd uses for an engine and need to know what the engines weigh.  Also, I have a bad back and the "ergonomic" seats press against my back too high up neccesitating having the seat back moved back quite a bit.  I am comfortable in the old style bench seats as the back presses against my back just barely above the pelvis(L5 vetabra).  Does anyone know what seats might be a bench style and fit the mounts.  Someone told me that the older (pre '98) seats were  bench style.    Les

I don't know the weights... You can pull up the cover on the seat back and add or remove padding as needed. I did this and the seat is now very form fitting to my poor old spine. It's was very easy to do.

Have a goood one.. Don S..

Thanks for the info, I'll see what I can do for the seat that way.  Just what kind of stuff has to come off/loose to get the cover off/moved?

As for the engines, mine is going strong right now, just looking to the future as it wears out.  I think I will probably spend money to keep everything running good.  Just thinking about converting to a diesel engine at some point.  There's a small Cummins 2.8 liter diesel (ISL2.8) I'm looking at right now, and perhaps Nissan will come out with a suitable diesel in the near furure.  As it stands now, I'm quite satisfied with the power, speed, economy, etc. (except for the seat).

Fold the seat-back forward. There is a long plasic slot that holds the front part of the cover down to the back of the cover. Unhook it then the cover can be pulled upward. Under it is molded ridged foam. I cut cut about an inch out of the lower part with a very large (very sharp) bowie knife. After that I could drive 15 hours in one day comfortably.

Have a good one.. Don S..
