anyone ever done the DIY bedliners such as the herculiner or used it for other apps such as undercoating or what not, what were the pros, cons that you encountered or that you have seen in them if not on your own truck what you have heard through the grapevine...it looks pretty dummyproof and easy enough...and well i'm sure the one gallon can that says it'll cover a 6' bed easy with 2 coats will be more than enough to take care of my short bed on the CC...

I have used herculiner to coat the inside of my CJ-7, its pretty easy to do.  It lasts for quite a while, does not skid easily, and water cannot get behind it.  The bad news is, if you ever want to remove it, good luck.  The nissan liner comes with a lifetime warranty ya know.

I had to have my bed replaced due to a accident and the dealer had a rhino
liner installed in it. I like it a lot more than the original spray in. Its seems a
lot thicker and with more cushion. I also just picked up a herculiner kit to
do the underside of the bed in the wheel well and a few other low spots that
I am concerned about getting some damage to through regular wear and
tear. Rhino and Line-x are both superior to a regular liner and the little bit
of experience I have had with the herculine makes me think the same of it
but only if you take your time and apply it under the correct conditions. If
you get the herculiner kit plan on buying some more of the material, you'll
end up seeing a few more places on the truck to apply it once you get going.

the spray or roll on bonds to the paint, and can be a pain in the butt to get back off.  Especially if you do it the right way and scuff up your paint before you apply.

I had a cheap setup done in my truck (bought it like that), they just sprayed right on with no prep.  Lightly scuffing up your clear coat with a 3000 grit or higher sand paper makes the spray bond a lot better, and less chances of it peeling off.

professional installers should pull all your bolts, bed hooks, and any other accessories in your bed and plug and mark your holes.  That way once the liner is on, they just remove the plugs and reinstall all your stuff.

You have to watch some places, they won't remove your bed bolts, and it's a PITA to cut up the liner to get to them.  Actually PITA doesn't even cover how hard it is.  I've got a few words in mind for the liner on bolts and their sprayers, but I can't say them here.  Of course a simple solution as asking them what all they do can prevent major headaches later on.
