A different kind of AC problem. I have read the AC post
and not sure if this is the same. I have no problem with
cold air, the problem is my compressor won's shut off. It
runs continuously whether the AC switch is on or off.
This causes all my AC lines to freeze up and plug the air
exchanger with ice. Does anyone know if this is similar
to the TCA problem?? The dealer-ya I know-can't
figure it out. Changed relay, tried a different control
module, a number of hours spent on diagnostic with no
solution. They even involved their head techs in
Toronto(yes Canadian) and they had never heard of this
problem. I brought up the TCA issue and they said that
wasn't the problem?? Anyone have any ideas. Please and
thanks.

Sorry, 2004 XE CC 4x4 5-sp
They haven't tried to re-charge the system because its not
the problem. It was to the point that I simply pulled the
fuse for the compressor.

The '04 model uses an intake sensor that is mounted to the
evaporator housing, I believe this will cause the problems
you are having. My 58 yo brain has difficulty remembering
every year and every peculiar problem that arises. Keep us
posted.

Thanks for the info. The only thing the "head guys" could
figure was some diode under the dash that they didn't even
know where it was located. $700 later and no answers.
Frontierguy, could you shed a little light for me? What
does the sensor do?? Thanks for your info.

FREEZE PROTECTION
The compressor cycles on and off to maintain the evaporator
temperature within a specified range. When the evaporator
coil temperature falls below a specified point, the intake
sensor interrupts the compressor operation. When the
evaporator coil temperature rises above the specification,
the intake sensor allows compressor operation.
