Hello everyone! New member here. '07 Frontier, crew cab, 4x4, 4.0 v6, automatic, beautiful red.
Anyway, bought the truck five days ago. Yesterday, while driving home from playing golf, the check engine light came on. Didn't notice any other warnings. Got home, parked the truck for the night. Went out to start it up this morning and...click, click, click, click, click...obviously low battery. Figured that was the issue with the check engine light.
So, I figured I'd just jump start it and go from there. In one of my most idiotic, lazy, unconscious moments, I put the jumper cables on the battery of the truck backwards. At least I think I did. I know that sounds stupid, but I'm just really not sure. There was a big spark when I attached to the negative battery terminal but that was all. I started up the charging vehicle, got in the Frontier and turned the key. Not even a clicking sound now. The only sign of electricity that I can detect is the outside cargo light at the top/back of the cab.
Did I blow the electrical system? I checked all the fuses I could (in the cab and under the hood) and didn't find any blown. I'm not sure what the taller cube-shaped components are in the engine fuse box. The only thing that I did notice, was one of the fuse-type things in the positive battery cable unit looks to be blown. The one on the left, nearest the fender.
What do you think? What else can I look for? What is the worst case and best case scenarios? I'm just sick about it if I screwed it up badly.
Oh yeah. I bought a new battery because the one in it was the original. Still won't start. Arrggghhhh!

First of all, replace the fusible links at the battery if
you determine they are blown. Check all the fuses in the
IPDM E/R with a test light or meter. Was the ignition "ON"
in the Frontier when you attached the jumpers?? When you
said there was a big spark connecting the neg cable, did
you leave it attached or is that when you realized they
were backwards? Worse case scenario, if the ignition was
"ON",when jumping normally or backwards, the ECU may be
fried.

The ignition was "OFF" when I attached the cables. I left it attached (there were no other symptoms except the spark), started the other vehicle, then got in the Frontier and turned the ignition on to try and start it.
