Hello again all and Merry Christmas!

Well, I just finished putting in a brand new Knock Sensor
and this is following my transmission flush and filter
change and now I only have one code and it is the dreaded
P0300!

This all started with what seemed like a tranny slip,
about a month ago and that is why I changed the filter
and flushed the transmission (it needed a new filter
anyway). The issue wasn't fixed and actually got worse so
I hooked my truck up to a Snap-On Solus we have at work
(I work at Cummins Diesel) and it told me that my knock
sensor was bad and that I had a multiple cylinder
misfire. I did some research and found that sometimes a
faulty knock sensor will cause both codes and so I went
through the dreaded and very long task of replacing the
knock sensor and it fixed that code but the misfire is
worse.

I changed the plugs with the correct (and even better)NGK
iridium plugs, while I had the intake off (I couldn't
imagine doing this with the intake on) and so I know the
plugs are good. I am actually getting great response,
until I reach operating temperature and then it starts to
basically jump around. The tachometer bounces like crazy
and so does the truck. What started out as a "slipping"
feeling has now progressed into a hard misfire issue. I
have heard that all that is left is either a new
distributor or a new EGR (or maybe both). I love my truck
but in the two months I have had it is has been a
nightmare and I just want it to run correctly. It is in
near mint condition and has low mileage for the year, so
once I get this misfire fixed, I believe that I will have
a great truck. Please give me some advise on any similar
issue you have heard and what it took to fix that issue.

Thanks

Run the engine in a dark area and see if any of the plug
wires are shorting to ground. If they are, replace with
Genuine Nissan wires. Remove dist. cap, rotor, and plate,
inspect for any debris especially under the plate. Replace
cap and rotor with Genuine Nissan parts.

Ok, i let it run until it got warm. I didn't see a short but what I heard was
a very high pitch whining noise coming from the distributer (it actually
hurt my ears) and it was getting louder. I shut my truck off because I
was worried because it was that loud.

When I removed the old plugs, only one of them seemed to be a bit
warn, the other five actually looked good. I looked inside the wires and I
didn't see any wear.

It is finally fixed and running great. It wound up
needing a new distributor but now it seems to be running
great. Of course, since I have had this truck for only
two months and have already replaced a couple pulleys,
the knock sensor, manifold gasket and all gaskets above
manifold, new plugs and a brand new distributor, I am a
bit leery. I also have changed every filter (including
the tranny filter) and flushed the transmission, so
hopefully I'll be good to go for a while. I noticed my
last tank of fuel was close to 16 mpg, which is by far
the best I have had and hopefully I can get it above 17,
now that everything is fixed.

Thanks for all the help and I still love my Frontier and
get all kinds of compliments on it...
