I just got a letter in the mail for my 2010 Nissan Frontier. It is a legal notice with a claim form. It states that certain Nissan models and years have radiator issues and there is a legal claim going on.
Is anyone else get this form, any one worried, and what do you suggest I do?
I'm sorta feeling like I should sell my truck!
Thanks, Live Happy Luke

Yes, I got one, but my truck has a manual trans. It states
that if you have already paid out of pocket for repairs,
you are eligible for a claim. Why worry, they have extended
the warranty. If you are concerned, bypass the rad
cooler(install plugs on each of the cooler nipples on the
rad) and install an external cooler.

You're right they did extend the warranty. I need to be more mechanically incline and learn how to do what you're talking about.
Any other maintenance suggestions or tips you've learned?
Thank you! Luke

Why do you need another cooler when there is already a
cooler located on the core support for the transmission.
Everybody seems to be just bypassing the radiator and just
looping the far hose back into the radiator and looping the
other pipe just back into the return to the tranny.
A lot of dealerships are actually doing this modification.
Nissan have some mess on their hands with this cockup.

I am going to be installing an aftermarket fan and will place it in front of the existing AT cooler, and bypass the RAD completely. I see no harm in doing this, might actually be better as the AT fluid will be cooler and in Sacramento, we have 100 degree summers.
I too got the class action notice and will take part in it for safety's sake, better safe than sorry.

High temperatures over 250 degrees deteriorate the additives in the automatic transmission fluid and can lower it’s viscosity. “Burned’ fluid kills automatic transmissions. The added friction of heavy loads, continuous high speeds and high ambient temperatures cause the fluid to over heat. I added a cooler in the oil cooling line as a life insurance policy for my automatic transmission..
Every car manufacturer has screw-ups!
Good luck.. Don S..

I tow a boat and have bypassed the radiator on my 07. I also added an additional trans cooler and trans temp gauge to monitor. I live in FL so keeping everyting cool is important. Just turned 103,000 miles.
