Starting to look at doing HP upgrades to the engine and I know transmissions can only handle so much HP before it is bad for them and I was wondering if anyone knew what the HP limit for my 98' frontier XE with the 2.4 liter 4 cylinder with the 5 speed manual transmission could take before I risk ruining my trasnmission.

Thanks,

csagenlee

..

Even if you bore and stroke the engine the transmission should be OK. That’s provided you have good shifting habits and maintenance. Do you have a magnetic drain plug to catch metal particles? Have you replaced the factory lube oil? The clutch and u-joints will also be weak links.

Good Luck with it.. Don S..

None of that has been done yet but before I do all of the HP upgrades I planned on rebuilding the transmission. So the drain plug and lube oil will be done then. I was just wondering if there was a HP max for the transmission.

Thanks for the info,

csagenlee
