I have a 2006 Nissan Frontier LE crew cab. Yesterday I took it in to get the oil changed and they conveniently came back to me with paperwork that showed I'm out of warranty tucked under the top paper. They said all of my motor mounts were broken and it would be $1000 to replace them. Then they took out the paper that was under and pretended to be looking up my warranty info and acted surprised to see that my truck went out of warranty less than 2 months ago. My last trip to Nissan was a detailed inspection, oil change, fluid flush, etc. and nothing was wrong then. I'm calling BS on this! Does anyone know if these are covered under warranty or if there is a recall on the motor mounts? I'm not even at 70k miles yet, these seem like they should be permanent parts.

if you rev the engine when parked, and hood open, do you see the engine jump?

I know that motor mounts are subjected to stress cracking.

I checked at a non-Nissan repair shop and their price was basically the same. I'm done with this truck....

On a side note, I saw some class action lawsuit being filed about failing timing belts the other day. It said something about 2004 - 2008 Nissans having faulty timing belts that resulted in injuries and vehicle damage. They just happened to replace my "faulty" belts under warranty right after the lawsuit was filed. They said they were warranty parts and I only have to pay a $50 deductible. Turns out these parts are not warranty items, and second, warranty items should have no deductible. Here is the lawsuit site

I am currently looking at buying a Toyota instead of dealing with Nissan anymore because I'm getting really pissed off with their shady service lately.

It is the sec. timing chain tensioner shoes that fail, YOU
do not have a TIMING BELT!!!! Only concern is noise, never
seen an engine failure from this concern. And again, I have
never seen an engine mount fail. Do you off-road this
vehicle?

I never offroad this truck, it is used to do regular driving and most of my driving is on the freeway. Failing at 68k miles seems a little ridiculous. And yes it is timing chains not belts, my bad. Here is the class action lawsuit I saw online. I'm not sure how far it's progressed, but coincidentally less than 2 months later Nissan had me do a "warranty" repair on the exact mentioned parts. When I talked to Nissan the other day they told me these parts should not have been warranty parts, so I think they were trying to do a switch-a-roo on me without telling me about the lawsuit. I've heard of other companies doing this before to save their reputation and it ended up hurting their rep for a while. Here's the site
