I have a 2006 Frontier crewcab. I tend to drive a bit on gravel roads for fishing and quading. Upon coming back from Idaho I began to notice little dents protruding outwords on the rear fenders. It seems small rocks are flying up between the double wall of the fenders and as the truck is driven they slide down the narrowing space and dents appear from the inside out. The side with the gas filler is the worst as there is quite a space around it for the rocks to fly into. They also get into the fender on the passanger side but not as bad as the holes arn't as big. I took it to the dealer and they said they don't make any sort of guard that I could buy to keep the rocks out. I currently have the the spaces stuffed with pink insulation! I checked a couple extended cabs and the fenders are all sealed. Not sure why Nissan would not have built a more sealed fender on the crew.

Has anyone else seen or heard of this?

It almost sounds like you're missing part / all of your inner fender liner. I just went outside and looked at my 06 CC, and there's heavily undercoated steel throughout my inner fenders. I looked very hard on the driver side, and I couldn't find a single spot where a rock could impact the inside of the actual fender sheet metal.

This isnt totally unheard of. I have a brother-in-law and uncle living next door to each other who drive the same year and model of Chevy pickup. While cleaning the mud out of my brother-in-law's fender-wells, I noticed that he's missing a splash shield when compared to my uncle's pickup. This sounds like a factory OOPS.

I took it to the dealer the other day. The service manager seemed to want to help and said he would call Nissan to see if they would step up to the plate.

Well, they didn't. The sevice manager said he didn't agree with Nissan but what can you do. He also said he would take me to the body shop that does all their work and get me a price to fix the dents at their cost, so maybe I'll save a little.

The service manager seemed to care and i don't balme the dealer. I guess if this happens to enough trucks they might make the necessary modifications to their design.

I'm pretty happy with the truck but this leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
