Greetings folks,
I'm wondering about an issue that I've had for years on my 99 Frontier. I know what the issue is, so no need to diagnose it, but I was wondering if this 'problem' still exists on the later generations of the Frontier. Short of me going to a dealership and inspecting the various years, thought I would ask here first.
I'm running the KA24DE 4cyl on my 4x4 Frontier. One of the issues I've run into is with the belts. I'd go out and get the belt name but I'm a bit tired, may come back and update this post, but regardless... The non-powered pulley that sits about as a far forward as a belt can on this engine, is mounted on a bracket. The bracket is bolted to the engine, but the pulley sits by itself, you can manage tension by tightening a bolt but otherwise the pulley is just there. Over the years the bracket gives in to the tension of the belt and begins to give, causing the pulley to no longer be in line with the engine.
It is just one of those issues that I look at as a design flaw. I am getting into the market for a new truck and I want to start looking at a newer Frontier, I love the ride and I enjoy the truck, even with the issue (and the a/c clutch engagement problem)... and the odd attachment for the exhaust that always rusts away. I would just like to know if anyone else can confirm this odd setup on newer Frontiers.

New Frontys use the serpentine belt system...everything in one plane with a tensioner to keep the belt tight.
