Hello, quick question.. what is considered "off road" model Frontier for 2008. The owners manual specifies different diff oil with 6 speed MT or "off road" vs. not MT or off road.
I have a 4X4 V6 with an auto tranny. Is this considered "off road?"
What oil types go in the front and rear differentials?
Looks like the front is 80w90 API GL-5
and the rear is 75W-140 API GL-5 Synthetic?
Thanks!
David

I have a 2007 and use Mobil 1 75W-90 in both the front and rear diff. At 53,000 miles, no issues whatsoever. Runs smoothly, quietly and trouble free. I take the truck on mild off road conditions to hunt....uneven grassy/muddy fields, miles of gravel roads, etc.

The M226 takes 75w-140 synthetic - the C200 takes the
lighter wt. I know the trucks with the 6 spd manual have
the M226 diff. along with the Pro-4 x models(off road). I
can get more info @ work on Mon. if I remember. The CC
uses the C200 diff.

I found this on another site: D44 is the M226
C200
SE CC 4x4 Auto = CA33
SE KC 4x4 Auto = CA31
LE KC 4x2 Auto = CA29
D44 Variant
NISMO KC & CC 4x4 Auto = CC33
NISMO KC & CC 4x2 Auto = CC31
NISMO KC & CC 4x4 6spd = CC36
SE CC 4x4 6spd = CC36

I thought about using full synthetic 75W90 in both front and rear differentials.
I did look at my VIN plate and my tranny is CA33
Thanks!

David, just use M-1 75W-140 then. No issues. In the front diff, use the lighter weight.
