Not sure if anyone else has experienced this problem or not, but just recently, my 05 LE crew cab 4x4 has been vibrating from the front.  I first noticed it when I was driving above 60 but now it is doing it when it get close to 40.  I have had the tires rebalance 3 different times in the past month and a half at two different places.  I am concerned that there may be something more severe going on but am not sure which way to go with it.  At one point, one tire was calling for as much as 7 ounces of weight.  I do recall geting a little goofy with it in the snow one day and under the snow were some iced over ruts from other vehicles tracks.  I have checked the CV joints and they seem fine, there is no play in them at all.  Could this possibly be caused by an alignment problem?  Any help or direction would be much appreciated.  As a side note, no one who did the balancing has said anything about the tires or rims looking bad.

"At one point, one tire was calling for as much as 7 ounces of weight. "

I had a new BFG 31x10.50x15 that 4x4 Parts in Ft.Worth could not balance. I took it to another shop and they balanced it OK but said that 3.5 0z was not good and that it would not stay balanced very long. Finally I bought another tire and put the bad one as a spare.

Depending on the size 7 oz 'anit' good. Take that one off and see if the shaking goes away.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

It would be nice if our members would add their vehicle information to their signature (similar to mine) plus add their City and State . A member in the same town might be willing to drop by and help you with a problem. Or drink all your beer!

Hey, Ya I'm having the same issue with my '05 crew cab. I just dropped
mine off this morning for nissan to look at it (before my warranty is up) so
I'll let you know what they find with mine.

So apperantly it was just a CV in the front end. Strange considering theres
only 60,000 km (under 40,000 miles) on the truck. I use the 4x4 a-lot, but
is this normal ??? I have to go pick it up and see for myself if the vibe is
really gone.

... Lets us know!

... Some times when you get air under the front end a wheel will spin like 60 MPH then when in hits the ground it puts a heck of a strain on every thing clear back thru the drive line. A half-shaft may be twisted and slightly bent... hope not.

Have a good one and see you later!... Don S..

Wild Frontier,

7 oz. of total weight on a 31" or smaller tire is a lot.  I don't know what kind of tires you have, but just for the record, BFG's are some of the worst tires I have ever seen as far as how much weight they take to balance.  Also, you mentioned getting a little crazy with it.  In addition to what lakota said, any time you go off road, you can easily knock a wheel weight off the rim.  One other thing to keep in mind any time you go off road is that snow and mud can and will pack on the inside of the rim adding "A LOT" of weight and throwing the balance way off, so always check the inside of the wheels for any snow or mud.

As for the guys balancing your tires, most tire jockeys don't even look at your tires while their spinning, they just close the lid to the balancing machine - wait till it stops - then pound on the weight it calls for.  Ask to watch the next time you have them balanced.

I gots 50k strong on there, any help would be great!

Well, my vibration is gone!
They (nissan) replaced the front (rear) CV and it seemed to take care of
things. Apperently there was some "play" in it.
Its still under warranty and I can't say that I've actually looked under the
truck. However...
I've just ordered a 5" Calmini lift kit so that would void the warranty
anyways.
Just a note....
My vibration was at only 30 mph rather than 40-60 mph, so you guys might
be dealing with something else.
