I have a V-6 2002 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab. I have no acceleration, sometimes takes a few seconds to take off from a light. Have to hold gas pedal to floor sometimes to get going. MPG is now about 10 mph. I have a little over a 100K miles and just had the transmission fully checked out, a major tune-up including electronic and chemical cleaning of injectors. My shop let me try a new air flow meter and that did not help. No check engine light and no codes when truck is diagnosed at my repair shop. The tranny shop tech said it appears to be my catalytic converters - but no codes at shop indicating low compression so I cannot be sure that is the problem. I just had an annual inspection today and it passed the state emissions test.

HELP - catalytic converter replacement is an expensive job. Everyone is puzzled because no engine codes.

Sorry for the long post but I would appreciate any advice or suggestions for this problem.

they didn't test the compression or spark because no check engine light and no problem codes indicated - shop claims there would be a code or check engine light if cats are bad - someone else said there is no code if cats are bad

Cats would have to be coming apart and plugging up to create the problem you describe. A bad MAFS could be on the edge of parameters, creating drive ability concerns and not a code. Did they try a NEW NISSAN MAFS or aftermarket???? Have you been using a GENUINE NISSAN oil impregnated air filter or aftermarket??? Have also seen distributors cause this problem, pull the cap, rotor and inspection plate, see if any ball bearings are out of place and floating around in there. Was it tuned up with GENUINE NISSAN parts or aftermarket???? Do you get the hint that I am a very strong supporter of GENUINE NISSAN parts????? And yes, you would have a code if cats are bad, which could also be checked by your dealer to see if the fr and rr O2 sensors mimic each other-indicating faulty cats. Also the MAFS can be checked in DATA MONITER SPEC with the Consult 2 to see if it is in parameters.
Had another thought, have you had the fuel sender recall done??? Possible corrosion at the sender unit causing high resistance but hasn't completely failed yet???
