Question: Is it common on 2001 frontier for the sending unit nipple to break off when trying to remove the fender hose?

Took my truck to the so called  "pros" and they just ripped the fender hose off and they are trying to make me pay for the new sending unit that they admitted to breaking.

I took the truck in just to get my fuel tank patched up pin hole in it.

They told me its not their fault because the nipple is usally metal not plastic.

The nipple on the sender is plastic - the nipple on the tank is metal. Did they remove the tank? If so, sounds like they forgot to unhook something, hence the broken nipple. Wasn't broke when you took it in, so sounds like it is their fault!

They are also claiming that this is the first plastic nipples they have ever seen in the history of their shop, which has been around for 25 years.

So any ways they called me to go pick up my truck and I arrgued with them about this sending unit. I ended up paying for it or else they would put a lean on my truck. I got my keys went to go start my truck the truck did'nt even start, as if there was no fuel getting to the engine. Talked to a couple BUDs and my father, they all think the fuel line was not bled right???

They looked at it for about 20 min could not find anything. So I got the truck towed to the nissan dealer ship which happened to be kiddy corner to this Bast Rad shop. On the way to the dealer ship, the tow truck driver for got to lock my wheels and my truck hit a BMW.

So consumer protection says I can send Bast my bill from nissan and if they don't pay it I can take them to small claims.

Do you have any idea what major mess up they would of done for the truck not to start, they said it start twice and then they drove it out side but when I went to go start it, it was just like it was not getting any fuel at all?????

Sounds like you went to a butcher shop instead of a repair shop!!! A few cycles of the key will run the fuel pump to "BLEED " out the fuel lines or just crank for 10-15 secs till it starts. Nissan has used plastic on the sending units for many years now. What exactly did they remove and what part of the tank did they attempt to patch???

Forgot to mention the recall on the fuel sender NTB04-062C - pertains to corrosion at the sender terminal rendering the fuel pump inoperable.

What difference does it make what the nipple is made of-THEY admitted they broke it - end of story-they are responsible!!!!
