Hey all I have an 01 Frontier with a V-6 engine. My engine oil warning light is'nt on but I was just wondering. If when the engine is running and the oil warning light stays on does that generally mean that the engine oil level is low? I know the owners manual says it means that the oil pressure is low. But then can you assume that the oil level is low as well? Also, if the oil level was too low, would the oil warning light go on? |

Some very expensive vehicle have engine oil level indicators but we only have a pressure indicator. If the engine has a low oil level the oil pump can't get enough to keep the pressure up to snuff! If the light comes on stop the engine and check the dip stick! I carry several quarts of engine & transmission oil, coolant water and drinking water for such emergencies. And carry a small fire extinguisher… could even save a life some day.
Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..
