First post here and thanks for this forum.
My '04 Frontier 4cyl started shaking the other day and at first I thought it was in the driveline such as a U-joint going bad. Then the dreaded 'service engine soon' light came on. I headed over to Advance Auto and got them to hook up their code reader, which displayed a misfire on #2 cylinder and also said egr was rich.
I picked up a new set of plugs and installed them and this did not solve the problem, so I did a full tune-up with new plug wires, dist cap and rotor. Found oil in #2 sparkplug well and changed the very expensive valve cover gasket. Fired up the truck and took it for a drive and it is still stumbling, so headed back to Advance auto for another check and this time it just read #2 cyl misfire.
The wierd thing is, this misfire will only happen between 1500-1800 RPM, under very light or no load.
I was thinking it was a TPS, but if it were bad, would it not throw a code ?
I have also found on this forum that there are EGR access plugs on the intake manifold, but I have no idea where to look for them.
The truck has 160K on it, and I've put most of those miles on myself.
Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
