I own an awesome 07 Frontier V6 6 spd I purchased new. I have almost 100k on it and it has been a very good truck. I am looking for advice on a few issues.

1) My air bag light began to blink about 40k ago, I was made aware of a recall issue but my local dealerships only want to diagnose the issue for a fee. Is there a recall on the front sensor that requires Nissan must to replace it? As a sidenote, there is very minor damage to the front driver's side from hitting a deer, the sensor began blinking much later than the minor damage.

2) Just the other day, while the truck was idling, the hazards flashed 3 times then immediately the TPMS indicator started flashing. It hasnt stopped. The tire pressures are all within proper range. The indicator has always worked properly until now.

3) And finally, about 30k ago, I started hearing a whine come from the engine compartment that directly mimics the engine RPM whether at idle or while driving. It seems to have become progressively louder over the past year but no other problems have developed.

Any help would be appreciated! And "frontierguy", I am hoping to hear from you!

1) get the recall done. R08070 NTB09-001
2) if the LTPW lite is flashing, there is a malfunction in the system, most likely a faulty sensor.
3)the noise is due to the secondary timing chain rubbing on the metal plunger in the tensioner due to wearing out of the plastic "shoe". NTB09-128 gives the parts needed for the repair, NTB10-001 gives the revised procedure for the repair. it's about a 6 hour job, just did one today.
Just a question, but why would you wait so long to address these issues????

did you check the tire pressure in the spare? IIRC there is a sensor in it too.

There is no sensor in the spare on Nissans. Toyota and some Infinity models have one in the spare.

Thank you so much for the info, I didnt wait, I actually took the truck in before it hit 60k for the whining. They said nothing was wrong. It was really muted then. It was more of an issue of getting them to duplicate the sound. I will not make excuses, but this truck stays on the road. It has served me well, but I have put almost 100k in under 3 years.

Also, in regards to the whining, those "codes" you mentioned, would they be recalls or are they just reference codes? I am in GA, any idea how costly that repair could be? And if I continue to drive it, what will happen?

Those are Nissan technical bulletin numbers. If you had it in for the whine noise concern and the dealer did nothing, I would be on the phone to Nissan!!! Warranty time pays 4.6 hours. Customer time is 6.0 hrs. The noise is caused by the metal plunger rubbing on the secondary timing chains, not sure how long it will go on like that, any time you have metal on metal is not a good thing.

Frontierguy, just wanted to say that I went by my local dealership, I talked them in to running the code on the airbag light, he said it was a "past" code and cleared it at no charge. I also spoke with him and let him know about the whining, he was also familiar with the timing chain issue. I just wanted to thank you for arming me with the info to go in and be "informed" enough to get answers. Thanks! It looks like I may have to pay for the repair in the timing chain.

If you had the truck in before 60K and they have a record of your complaint and they did nothing at that time, I don't see why you should have to pay now. It would be worth your while to pursue this.

I have an 08 six cyl six speed and I have recently noticed a whine as well that matches the rmp. Dosnt sound like a rub of any sort like the other guy is talking about. Almost sounds like a faint supercharger noise. Is this what you are getting as well?

If you are under 60K miles, get it to your dealer for the secondary timing chain/tensioner shoe update.
