I'm new to this forum and thought I would register and chime in with a couple of questions. I just recently last week purchased a 2008 Nissan Frontier SE 2 Wheel Drive. My entire family has been Nissan since i was born. My first truck was a 92 Nissan Frontier 5 speed barebones that was given to me when my dad bought a 98 Nissan Frontier SE 5 Speed. Since then the entire family has had nissan's, the 92 I drove was sold with over 380k miles and still in perfect condition. The 98 to this day has over 400k miles with the engine and tranny still running perfect and my dad has an 04 Crewcab SE with 480k miles (yes we drive ALOT in our business). I bought a used 94 Nissan Altima SE 5 speed back in 05 for $2700 "i was 3rd owner" and it still runs to this day with over 300k miles on it now.
Anyways, now that you have my background obviously i've always been a die hard nissan fan and thought that my purchase of the 08 Nissan Frontier SE with only 50k miles was an easy buy considering the great reliability of all the others. This time I went with the automatic transmission as the dealer assured me that the Nissan Auto Transmission were as reliable if not more than the 5 speed.
Now fast forward to me reading this forum and I'm hearing all the nightmare stories of Nissan and the Coolant mixing with the ATF fluid. Should I get an external cooler installed on mine or were these quirks fixed on the 08's and later?
I apologize for my rambling i'm just worried that I may be a victim of this flawed design. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
