Hi. I'm new to the forum and I found you while looking for TPMS sensors for my truck.
I recently purchased a new set of Firestone tires for my '07 Frontier. During the installation, they called me and said that they broke my TPMS sensor on one of the tires and would I please pay them an extra $150 to put in another one. I told them, you broke it you bought it, but that didn't get me very far.
In any event, I ordered a new sensor from tire-sensors.com for $38 and went to a corner mom & pop auto shop and they broke down the tire and put it in for me for $15. Now my only problem is that it needs to be programed to sync with the truck, which Nissan will gladly do for $49.95 with their state of the art computer syncerupper thingamabob. I just can't believe this is the only avenue that i have to get these things working properly.
I found this tool on ebay: Click Here. Does anyone have any knowledge of what this thing does exactly? HERE is another link with the same tool with a little more info, but still not enough to fully understand what it does. Frankly if the thing will make the idiot light go off I'd be happy with that.
Perhaps there's a better way to sync up the TPMS sensor and the on board computer?
I'm a little confused and i could use a little guidance. Thanks.

There is a big difference between shutting the lite off due to a previously low tire pressure and registering the sensors. This device sounds like it only shuts off the lite due to low pressure. How can the tire shop not be responsible for your sensor?? They broke it, they replace it, end of story!!!! We just got a new scan tool for tire sensors, takes about 5 minutes or less to register the sensors. Check with some other dealers or tire stores to see if they can register them for you cheaper.

Just a heads up, if the sensor came with a metal cap, (I have seen some
aftermarkets do that) replace the cap with a plastic one, the metal ones
corrode and sometimes will break the sensor coming off!

Thanks for the input. I'll call the place where they broke it and see if they'll program it for free. Although, I really don't want them messing with it in the first place. I wasn't too impressed with them because they kept calling me trying to sell me one thing or another.
