Howdy everyone... as of yesterday i'm the owner of an 07 XE. When I
signed the paperwork, the dealer asked me if I wanted an extended
warranty. I shrugged and said "this is a nissan, not a chevy."

I probably shouldn't have been such a wiseass though. As soon as I drove
it off the lot, I noticed the door ajar light flickering. Every time I hit a
bump, it would click/flicker. Every time it happens, the cargo light flashes
the person behind me. The worst part is that the cargo light will stay on
unless the doors are closed just so. Whenever I park, I have to stick
around for a minute or two to make sure it turns off.

The messed up thing is this: I test drove it and it didn't happen at all! Now
it happens with every corner or bump in the road.

I'm assuming/hoping it's just a matter of adjusting the suicide door's
striker to get it to close a little tighter. I can press in on the sensor button
with the 3rd door closed and trip the ajar light by pulling in and out on it,
so it doesn't seem like a problem with the driver door...

Anybody have experience with this? I'm wondering if the previous owner
might have had a habit of leaning on the door when it was open or
something, bending it down slightly.

Take it back to the dealer to have it checked, most likely the doors need adjusting to close properly.

I dropped by a bodyshop and they recommended NOT adjusting the
doors. As it turns out, there was some minor body work done on the
driver's side suicide door to remove a couple dents, but nothing serious
enough to knock the door out of alignment.

So I began to investigate further. With both suicide door latches in the
closed position (manually rolling them over with my fingers into the
locked state), the sensor was fine. I could hold it in with my finger and
"jiggle" the door with no epileptic seizure inducing idiot light. That told
me something that 3 dealerships couldn't: there's actually a sensor in the
latching mechanism(s).

I could actually see the top latch was making full contact and closing all
the way when the door shut. I couldn't verify that on the bottom latch due
to the striker location. So I pulled the striker off and flipped the latch over
with my finger. This time when I closed the door the problem was solved.
No amount of jiggling would set the idiot light off.

At that point is was obvious to me there was a problem with the door not
closing all the way at the bottom latch. We put the striker back on.
Backwards. And it fixed the problem. Door closes smoothly, latches tight
as long as it's shut firmly, and no more door-is-ajar nonsense.

I love my Frontier. Especially now that I can drive without the cargo light
flickering like mad.

Any chance the truck was "certified" used?
I have been hearing horror stories about people bypassing carfax and getting body work done on the side, and then selling cars as certified to jack up the price.
Not sure what the rules are about certified used car and minor body work done..

Sounds to me like the doors DID need an adjustment.
