2000 Frontier 4WD
DOES ANYONE HAVE A LINK TO AN ELECTRICAL SCHEMATIC FOR
THIS TRUCK?
When shifting into either 4WD Low or High, the fuse in
the panel labeled "meter" blows. It calls for a 10 amp
fuse. I just bought the truck a couple of months ago and
the guy I bought it from had a 20 amp fuse where the 10
amp should be. The 20 amp blew today when I tried to go
into 4WD. The odometer goes blank also and it wont crank
back up if you turn the truck off, unless you put it into
2WD High.
No schematic - No clue as to where to start looking.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A LINK TO AN ELECTRICAL SCHEMATIC FOR
THIS TRUCK?
HELP

Check the harness where it attaches to the trans and transfer assy. There are several rubber coated metal straps that tend to rub through the harness and short it to ground.

An earlier reply in the General Discussion forum suggested
that maybe the dash light that comes on when in 4WD was
shorting somewhere. This seems easier to check.
THANKS!

How is tearing a meter assy out easier than crawling under your truck and looking for something obvious that is a known concern????
Just checked your post in the General forum for the person that responded to your question, that explains everything!!!!!

Maybe I was unclear - sorry - QUOTE "an earlier reply in
the General Discussion forum suggested that maybe the

somewhere. THIS (i.e. - the harness where it attaches to
the trans and transfer assy) seems easier to check."
It would, in fact seem to me that it would be easier to
crawl under the truck and look at a harness that connects
to the trans and transfer assy than crawling under a dash
and sorting through a maze of wires in hopes of finding
what I need to check WITHOUT a schematic.
Sorry for the miscommunication.
