I only use the premium gas at 93 octane. Just replaced spark plugs and
wires. The fail-safe has been there ever since i have had the truck (1 month).
So upon reading these forums i did the norm moved the knock sensor
because it was throwing 2 KS codes. Now no codes but fail-safe is still there.
My next step is to just bypass the bypass. is it not true that the fail-safe is
just a boost controller of some sort. So in theory cant i just get a manual
boost controller? Any ideas besides that?

so since no one has replied to this post i guess i will. i took my 2002 3.3
supercharged pos to a nissan pro and found out about the normal exhaust
bolt problem and that the supercharger is based on vacuum both on the
intake and exhaust side the bolts on the exhaust manifold break or the
manifold cracks now if your like me and have moved the knock sensor thats
the wrong fix for anything. the knock code that the sensor was seeing was (i
guess) the exhaust leak. I am still waiting on my pos to get finished but as
soon as i get it back i will fill all of you guys and or girls in on what happens.
It may not fix my problem but if it does i will be like a fat kid in a candy
store.

Best I could do! Purchase a service manual on the net for $10 to $20 dollars and find it with Google.  I don't want to give up copy rights.  Your best bet is to get your own copy and you'll be able to fix anything on your Frontier.

I've been out of commission for a couple of weeks due to
severe flooding in our area(just got internet back today),
power was out for a week, bridges are gone 1/2 mile in
either direction on the main road, have to detour over the
hill to get out. Other than 2 feet of ground water in the
basement, we were very fortunate, many lost everything.
Handy121 seems to be on the right track for your concern,
we do not see many SC, so I am not familiar, with all the
problems. Keep us posted on the progress.

ok so up date time. I just got my SC back now the exhaust is fixed it
sounds great but the knock code is still there. now most people with the
KS problem will just move it to a bolt thats on the intake and not just
replace it. I can not do that ( i ve tried) the supercharger just makes too
much chatter for a KS. So for time being i have it on the fire wall so it
doesn't pick up any ping. Not a fix just a bandaid for the problem. Im
debating on taking all of the intake and crap off myself or paying
someone to do it for me. Im leaning more to doing it myself just to be
able to say yea i did that mofo. If anyone out there has an SC and has put
a 2.5 or 2.4 pulley on theirs and has measured the boost let me know how
much of a diff it is.Right now im getting 7.5lbs no mods just a boost
gauge. P.S i have access to ALLDATA and i have an OBD2 reader and i
know its the KS just by moving it to the firewall no more "fail-safe" and
this truck is so nice in boost.

Handy the pic you posted is where i taped in for the boost gauge that was
the first thing i did before i got the exhaust fixed just to see what the SC was
doing, and at full boost 7.5 lbs till it gets into 2nd gear then i would "fail-
safe" and dropped to 3 lbs ALLDATA showed that too but i read the obd code
and looked the code up and it was the KS code 420 and 430. This is what is
really killing me the SC fail-safe is controlled by everything such as the
TPS,MAF,KS,O2S, and anything that is in the vacuum/boost lines so much to
fail and so much money to throw at a stupid problem.
