The truck is a 2007 Crew LB with a six speed manual. When the
engine/trans is cold (first start of the day) it's difficult to shift 1st,
2nd, and 3rd. 4th through 6th work fine. After it warms up it's much
better. Syncros?
It has 60K miles.

TIA,
Rich

Welcome to the "lousiest trans ever built club", mine has
done it since day one. Adjust the free-play to the minimum
for the clutch pedal, be sure you don't have "thick" floor
mats, and be sure to push clutch to the floor when
shifting. After driving a "96 Tacoma for 7 yrs and 156K, it
was very difficult adjusting to the lousy Frontier trans.

Had a 2000 Xterra that had to push the clutch to the firewall to shift.
Friction point on this clutch is much better. Still, going all the way to
the floor still makes for difficult shifting while cold.
Drive train warranty ran out 300 miles ago.
Need help...

Did you have the concern prior to 60K and any record of
this at the dealership? Many times they will do a
"goodwill" claim to correct a concern that is just out of
warranty. I know a lot of guys like to do there own work,
but it does pay to visit your dealer to show some
patronage.

I totally agree! On cold starts 1st-3rd seem a little "clunky" for lack of
a better term ,for the first couple shifts. After it gets warmed up
seems much better though

Maybe it is time to change the tranny fluid. I did my other car at ~90 and it felt like a new transmission. Also, flush the clutch master & slave cylinders with new fluid (do the brakes while you are at it).

NPHLYT,
I replaced all my fluids at 3,000 miles, using Nissan full
Synthetic in the trans, no change in operation.

Thanks for the reply!! The problem just started so there's no history
or record of it at the dealer. I'll probably end up taking it there and
see if they'll warranty it being that it has 60,800 miles.
Unfortunately the closest dealer is 2.5 hours away.

Other than this, I really like the truck.

Changed the trans fluid with syn 4,000 miles ago. Didn't do the clutch
and slave. Good idea! Thanks.

Carefull with the synthetics guys! I'm all for the bigger and better but with enough miles things start to leak with a change over to synthetic. I recently switched back to conventional and have had no leaks.
