First it would be better to know what model, the engine, and the mileage on the engine.
Parking up or down hill could effect the drainback valve (if it has one) of the filter. Are you using a Nissan filter?
First generation Frontier engines should handle 20W-30 OK. The first number is the real weight of the oil... the W indicates it's got Worms in it... the second number indicates the viscosity at the warmed up engine running temperature (when the worms are warmed upand thicken the oil) . The ticking is when it's cold.
