This may be covered elsewhere - but I couldn't find it. 

I have a 1997 Nissan XE with the 2.4 ltr with the service light on.  The code comes up EGR valve, but it has been replaced within 7000 miles (the vehicle has 119,600 on it).  My shop that does my inspections replaced something else that goes with the EGR valve, took everything off the EGR system and made sure it was free of obstructions, and it all worked fine. 

They cleared the code and it was able to pass inspection, but then the service light came back on after 150 miles and is reading EGR again.  My mechanic said he has two other Nissans in this situation.  The only thing they do to pass inspection annually is replace the EGR valve, then put in for an exemption for the inspection - a little too pricey in my opinion.

I know I need to find more info on what else has been replaced, but what else should I be looking to replace/repair/fix to clear this code for good?
