I have a 2006 Nissan Frontier CC 4.0 and MIL lamp on- read code and was a P2A03 O2 sensor, circut range/performance bank 2 sensor 1. so I purchased a Bosch OEM sensor and installed it on the drivers side the first sensor after the exhaust manifold- I cleared the codes and a short time after the light came on again and read the same problem- I cleared the codes three times but still comes back on with same cade- did I do something wrong??? Can anyone tell me if they had this problem and how to repair it? Just last month I had to replace the cat on bank 1 and that fixed the prior p0420 code. I hate these emmision problems and I think the ethanol has something to do with it! I know in my outdoor power equipment business its a huge problem. Thanks Randy.

Are you sure you got the correct part, this is an air fuel
ratio sensor, not an O2 sensor, they operate differently.
There are 2 grounds behind the battery that need to be
checked and one behind the air cleaner case. Also check the
2 grounds on the timing chain case. Are you using a Genuine
Nissan oil impregnated air filter????? I see a lot of
ethanol problems on small engines, not so much on vehicles.

Frontierguy- Thanks, I think I got the wrong sensor. I replaced the top O2 sensor on bank 2. I will check the grounds first before I replace  the air fuel ratio sensor. As far as the air filter I use K&N filter cartridges in all of my vehicles and have been using them for many years and had no problems. Would the problem with the air fuel sensor effect my fuel mileage because it seems to be much less than usual. Thanks again for your help!

Yes on the effect of mileage. As far as the K+N is
concerned, take a real good look at it, do a search for the
test a guy did on them and other filters. The K+N flows a
lot of air, but also dirt. The MAFS is a very sensitive
device. I have also used K+N in the past, but have since
switch back to Genuine Nissan filters. If you want to
continue using the K+N, get some MAFS cleaner and give it a
shot once in awhile.

I cleaned all the grounds that you mentioned and the light has not come back on (hope it never comes back on). Thanks for all the valuable information. I will purchase some MAFS cleaner to clean the sensor. Thanks again!

Well the light came back on again! Same code as before. I purchased some MAF sensor cleaner and cleaned as per the instructions. Reinstalled and cleared the codes but light came on in about 50 miles with same code.  I cleaned every ground I could find. Have any other suggestions? Thanks for any input. The truck runs like new but the fuel mileage is a little less. Other than the SES light I have NO complaints on this truck. It has over 120,000 miles and does not leak a drop of fluid anywhere, it tracks straight, tires wear great, no rattles, and so on. Thanks and happy Frontiering.
