I am wondering if anyone has had a similar issue.
I took my completely stock truck in for it's 45k mile service and told the
tech I had an odd noise in the rear. To me it sounded like a bearing that
was failing. The tech took a test drive with me and heard the sound too.
Long story short, I got a call from the dealer saying they check the Diff
Fluid and it was full of metal shavings. Nissan replaced the rear end
under warranty so I made out fine but my concern is that it failed to
begin with. My local dealer said they did not even open it up so they
could not tell me what went wrong.
I am also noticing about a 2 mile per gallon loss in gas mileage since
the repair was done about three tankfulls ago so I am not sure if there
is a "break-in" period.
Anyone have something similar happen?

Is it 4wd? If so, try putting it in 4wd (drive straight
ahead on dry pavement) and see if it binds up. They may
have put the wrong rear ratio in or maybe because the
weather is getting colder, is why the mileage change?????

I tried driving it in 4wd and it seemed fine. Did not bind up at all.
Maybe it just needs to break in...
We shall see.
Thanks
