I have a 2004 4WD XE, with 88,888 miles. Bought it used. I found a source of front end squeaks that may be affecting others. In my case the sound was a very high pitched metal on metal squeak that only happened on very bumpy roads.
I took off the bumper and found that the bracket that holds the head lights and also bolts to the radiator had sagged down and was rubbing against the horizontal box beam that runs horizontally in front of the radiator. A nice layer of rust showed that it had been like that for a while.
I pried the offending bracket up, and pushed a piece of rubber under it, same on the other side. Now all is quiet.
I'll be lurking and learning about what to pay attention to in this truck.
