Recently I got my 2004 Frontier 4X4 with Automatic Transmission, and a couple of people spontaneously mentioned that there are some generic problems with the tranny, resulting in early failures. Can anyone point me at info about where these stories might originate? Anyone have problems with theirs? This is my first vehicle with auto trans, and am not sure if I like it or not. So far so good, though.

..

There were a few problems back in the mid 1990s though I didn't have any.

Just check the level and change the fluid as recomended.

All my 4x4s have been automatics and never had a problem.

Three Jeeps and two Nissans!... (PhotoShopped) I didn't have them all at the same time...

Good Luck.. Don S..

Thanks, good to know. Sometimes these rumors get repeated without a lot of research. I've got new fluids in mine now, so I'll just relax and enjoy.

Is that a Rohn 25 antenna tower? Ham?

The 05 and up Frontier had radiator cooler problems that
would put coolant in the atf and destroy trannys, but not
04.

Correct. I missed renewing my general ticket last time. I worked over 1100 mobile cw contacts with QSL cards exchanged. Worked all 50 states twice cw. Still have my 2000watt station But haven't turned it on in 30 years... Or the mobile for that matter.

This was a coveted QSL card in the 1970s & ‘80s I got two 30minute cw ‘rag chewer’ awards... Most of my contacts were made while driving to and from work. No wrecks or tickets. Worked Australia (both coasts) regularly with 80 watts out of a Kenwood TS-520 all using cw.

Have a good one.. Don S..

Thanks Frontierguy. That sounds more like a recent problem that would have people remembering. Glad to know I'm just out of range on that one.
