I have an 04 frontier supercharged. Recently I noticed when matting it
on an on ramp a sputter. After further diagnosing it happens only when
the truck is at WOT, and will sputter right at 4000 rpm. It occurs when
the truck is neutral as well, therefore not a drivetrain issue?

I was thinking I should start with the spark plugs first and go on down
the line from there. Has anyone changed the spark slugs in this motor
as it appears it may be a challenge in accessing the ones on the right
side.

Any help would be appreciated in diagnosing the issue, as well as tips
to changin the spark plugs.

Thanks in advance.

Plugs are good for 105K. Use only NGK PFR6G-11. Are you
using hi-test fuel? Are you using a GENUINE NISSAN OIL
IMPREGNATED air filter? The air intake assy along with some
other parts needs to be removed from the intake to gain
access to #2 + 4 plugs. Be sure to blow the plug holes out
w/ compressed air before removing plugs to prevent any
debris from entering cylinder. Try running the engine in
the dark to see if any plug wires are shorting to
ground(may have to spray w/ water). If wires are needed,
use Nissan wires.

Thanks for the tips. Yes on premium fuel, not sure on the filter, and will
definitely look over the plugs and wires. Do you think it could have
anything to do with exhaust. I'm to icing a pinging/ tick from under the
car when it is doing the sputter.

Have you checked for any DTC'S? It may have a bad Knock
sensor that may not illuminate the Check Engine lite.
