While driving my brakes stopped working. Had to really press hard to slow down and stop. While pressing on them, the engine sounded like it wanted to quit. When in park and while engine running, I pressed the brakes and again the engine sounds like it wants to stall. There's no leaks. It's a 1999 Nissan frontier 6 cylinder. has 338,000 miles and purrs like a kitten

Welcome to the group!

If you don’t have a vacuum hose leaking then it probably has a ruptured vacuum booster diapham of the power brake unit.
