Hey guys I haven't been on here in a couple years and forgot my old login info.
My issue is that my 2005 Nissan Frontier 4.0 is making a whining noise from the AC compressor. I can hear it up to about 3k RPM and then it gets quieter. It just started today. The A/C has been making a hissing noise for quite a while. Hissing on the passenger side. Sounds like it's coming from the in the dash in front of passenger side.
I've read from a lot of people that it might be linked to the bad timing chain tensioners, but I have no noise like that when the AC is off. I popped the hood and had my wife hold the gas at 2500 RPMs and I could distinctly hear a high pitched whine coming from the AC compressor (right side of engine from the front?)
Also, does anyone know of a good service manual for the frontier? I have a BMW and Bentley makes an aftermarket manual that is awesome. Covers everything from adding washer fluid to doing engine swaps.
Anyways when I get it fixed I'll post back on here and make a DIY for the issue. Thanks guys.

How many miles? Most likely it will need a comp. There is a
slight chance that the system could be recovered,
evacuated, add BG frigi quiet, recharge system.

As far as mileage goes I'm at 33,000. Although the truck
is originally from Arizona so the AC might have been used
a lot before I bought it.
Since I'm only hearing the whine when the AC is on I
figured it must not be timing chain.
Also I have had a leak on the passenger side. There is a
larger metal tube about 3/4 of the way to the top of the
engine that wraps around from the rear. I think it is
leaking coolant but it is very intermittent. I did a
leakdown test and came back with no leaks, just
overfilled the overflow. Could that like be related to
the AC? I only get that leak with the AC on but the fluid
is green just like coolant.
I want to bounce ideas off people before I start repairs.
I have extensive experience on BMW's, but not much on my
frontier. Anyone know where to get a good service manual?

With 33K, I highly doubt it is the compressor. Are you sure
the fluid you see is not the evap. drain(moisture)? Can you
take any pictures? Not sure on the manual.
