Can anyone advise the correct procedure for checking the transmission fluid level on a 08 V6 auto?  There is nothing in the manual other than fluid type.  It took my local shop to show me that there is actually a dipstick - not a word in the manual - but I'm not sure of the correct procedure (engine running? which gear? etc. etc.) Also, if it needs a top up - it might - can I assume the fluid goes down the dipstick tube.  They make it harder than it needs to be.  Other than that, not a bit of trouble - 100K km (60K mi).  Heading out of town and will check post in a few days.  Thanks in advance.  Cheers.

engine running, run gear selector through gears, check in
park. If trans is warm , should be @ upper level, if cool,
lower level.

Finally got around to topping up my transmission. I was
unable to determine a Dextron equivalent so I had to buy
the fluid from the dealer. $16CAN for 1 litre plus tax!
Holy crummoly! It had better be r-e-a-l-l-y good stuff
