hello, noobie here!

looking to replace the vehicle i've been driving for 20 years.  Tacomas aren't available with black interior, and a grey interior will get trashed in two years.

I like the interior of the Nissan much better, but i just can't get beyond the hideous liftgate.  that piece of plastic in the top middle is gaudy.  please take no offense if you like yours.

- is there anything in the aftermarket to cover/fix that?

- if you remove the badges from the liftgate, are there emblem locator holes? i have seen the Tacomas with the badges removed, and there are no locator holes.

the plan is a Fronteir SE, 4cyl, wheels, and a little dress up.  that's it.

i can turn a wrench, i learned how by building this kit car:

please help! any photos and comments are welcome.

Hello NiceGuyEddie I have seen chrome covers around were the handle is for your tailgate. Nissan at on time sold a kit for you side mirriors and the back gate from the dealer. Or here is my nutty idea pull all the plastic off and use bed a spray or role on bed liner on top of your bed rail and on top of the tail gate

The problem with most of the bed trim is they're snapped in.  So removing them will leave you with a bunch of holes on top of the tail gate.  You could look at having them painted, but it's a little pricey.

I believe the majority of new vehicles today use badging that is taped on and doesn't use the alignment holes.  I'm not 100% sure on the frontier though.

Thanks for the advice so far…

I’ll look into the kit that covers the side mirrors and tailgate

I removed the badgeing on the tailgate carefully and painted it satin black and then reinstalled it. Yes, there a holes where the badge lines up.

I will post pics. of the badge mods I did on my truck as soon as I get home. The debadgeing is easy. Just take a piece of dental floss and start at one side of the letters placing the floss at the edge of the letter you want to remove. Work it back and forth between the letter and the body and it will cut through the adhesive but will not scratch the paint. Clean off the adhesive and you are done.

For the NISSAN badge on the tailgate I applied sone heat with a hair dryer and crefully prier it off. I scuffed up the badge and put it on wax paper and sprayed it with satin black. Once dried I softened the adnesive again and reinstalled.
