It is time to get a new set of tires. I live in FL now but we may be moving to CO next summer. I'd like to get some decent tires that have good traction for the snow (if that is even possible). My current size is 265/65R17 so I'm not sure if I should keep the same size and get a different tread, or a different size, etc. I don't usually haul any big loads so traction is most important to me at this point.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks, Greg

I switched from the BFG Long Trails that were on my 07 King Cab stock to
General Grabber AT2s. After about 25,000 miles I have no complaints. I
live up in CT and we got enough real snow last winter for me to be very
pleased with them in the white stuff and slush and ice equally.
In terms of day to day road driving they are superior to the BFG in all ways
and the price for them could not be beat.
Off road they are performing well also. However I do my best not to beat on
the sidewalls since its only 2 ply.
Long story short, great tire at a great price. The only reason I will not be
buying them again is because my truck will be seeing more aggressive trails
as it's build up progresses and I want a 3 ply tire.

Here in the heart of Europe we deal rather often with snow & ice. Especially the pickups suffer from poor traction on the rear if empty. Therefore many people take the Cooper Discoverer M+S (mud and snow) for the winter time. We have two sets of wheels and change them due to the season.
Real expert tires for the snow are the Vredestein 4trac extreme (available in the US??) and the Pirelli Ice and Snow.

Pro-Comp 265/75/16 All Terrains have been a huge upgrade over the stock BFG Rugged Trails. Other than a little noise in the corners they are a great street tire and as of yet I havent been able to get my truck stuck in the Florida mud. I have rescued an F-350 attached to a 40' trailer from the mud, hauled a sunken boat out of the water and up on to shore with only limited wheel slip. I haul a 41' 5500lb trailer on a regular basis and the tread has held up well after 40K. I posted a pic undwer the towing/hauing section. The tires ran me about $750 for 4 of them. Getting the same size as the stocks means you can keep your spare.
