Does anyone have experience with add-ons like the Turbonator, K&N cold air intakes, replacing/recalibrating ECU, etc.?   Have a 2004 3.3L Crew Cab 2x4.

I saw posting on "resistor" process and don't want to go that route.

What is realistic performance to be expected?  Is it worth the money?  Recommendations on best product?  ETc.

Thanks,

joe

A few threads up there is one called "Basics of Adding HP".  I recommend starting with that to learn what is worth it for mods.  http://www.nissanfrontier.org/forum_posts.asp?TID=124&PN =1

Turbonator is junk really, not worth the $60+ they charge for it.  A great concept only if the intake was completely straight, and all the same size.  There's too many bends and changes for it work right.

For better power and gas mileage, K&N filter or intake system, Exhaust system, Bed cover, and a light foot are your 4 best options.  Also proper maintenance will help as well, especially keeping your tires at the proper inflation.

I tried getting the admin to put "Post Whoring Moderator" instead of "Nissan Frontier Forums Moderator"

Comes from being on the Maxima.org forum.  And the funniest part is, I don't even own a Frontier anymore.  They took it away, said I was some sort of danger to the public  LOL

I've been seeing that login list getting longer and longer, but still few posts.  Though it's picked up a bit.  People need to post more, doesn't bother me if it's a quick shot, small comment, a joke, or just flaming another truck company.  Honestly, if it wasn't for some of us moderators, this place would have died.  600 some odd posts, most of the answering questions.  Honestly I'm kind of tired of answering questions.  Honestly I'd like a good discussion, that's why I hopped in on the 4.0L engine deal.  Get some fur flying, but keep it clean at the same time.

I've posted a couple I thought would get a rise...didn't work. So I don't have a quick shot, small comment or a joke (right now), but Honda sucks at building "trucks," some friends are leaving their Jeeps all over I-95, and I pulled out a truck last month after asking "does that thing have a Hemi?" and 2 that are built like a rock. Hows that for flaming some other truck companies. :)

hey now i'm pretty well...semi regular (POSTING THAT IS!!!) ;) i spend most of my time daydreaming about nissan releasing diesels here....(sigh) lol

as far as the power mods it seems that the 3.3's were kinda sparse for quick stuff,

i've seen cams from several places (i.e. jimwolf technology, 4x4parts.com, spencer low racing)

gibson seems to be the most popular catback exhaust system set up for the 3.3 unless you go custom, and it's the one that spencer low has in their power package kit

jet has the ECU recal

lots of intake options but pick your poison

spencer low racing also has a larger throttle body, which requires you to send them a core and they send you back the larger one.

spencer low also has headers (which they claim are off road use only due to they know it will not pass CA emissions testing) i did run into another set of headers someplace i think it was called doug's headers or they were dough thorley, not sure if they were same, but anywho not that many i've seen, guess you could always have some built

of course turbos/superchargers the latter of which my brother informs me that the stock ones can be had for 400 bucks or so on ebay, rebuilt probably, albeit they are not supposed to be the greatest

might be leaving some stuff out but then you come to the 2.4 and you could probably make a lot of 240SX aftermarket stuff work since they are based on the same engine no? of course i'm not sure if it's the SOHC or DOHC in the 2.4 i know the 240 went from SOHC to DOHC in the mid 90's if i'm not mistaken

The S13 240sx had the KA24E motor (SOHC), the S14 240sx has the KA24DE motor (DOHC)

The 240sx was SOHC 89-90 and DOHC 91-98 . I own one and just bought my Frontier with the 2.4 and I'm gonna see what mods do and don't work . So far just from lookin though , should be the same header and if you wanted to you could probably use a 240SX short shifter in the 2.4 Frontier since they share the same tranny .
