I purchased a 2006 Frontier a couple of weeks ago and was not aware they used the Utili-Track system.  I have since purchased a set of 4 cleats and stops on eBay.  Upon installing them I do not see any way to leave them on the track and prevent someone from stealing them.  Also, I cannot figure out what the purpose of the stops are.  I know they are supposed to keep things from sliding off of the track but that seems pretty lame.

Is there a way to prevent the cleats from being stolen and does anyone have a better use for the stops?

Thanks

I use the stops to minimize theft of the sliding barrier I have as well as the movable mounts for the bed extender.  Not perfect theft deterrent by any means but it can deter the casual thief.  I have not found a way to keep the cleats from being taken so I only put them in when I need to use them.

I just leave mine in with the thought that the stops will deter 99% of thieves.  I have the bed extender so I keep the gate locked as well.  One year no issues knock on wood.  Except for some loser putz who would pawn them, these are only of use to a fellow Frontier/Titan owner.  From what I can tell from this forum, we're upstanding folk.  Maybe in the next gen. they'll have some exterior lockable storage like on the Titan/Ridgeline/Taco.
