Hi all.

I have a question regarding larger tires.  I am considering 33" tires on my 04 CC 5 speed.  My mechanic said that the largest Nissan lists are a 265/70/R15 (which is what is currently on it).

He said that the larger size could cause problems with some of the computer systems.  He said the the ABS system is designed to function at that size tire and may not work properly with the larger tire.  When pushed, he said that he would install them if that is what I decide to do.

Is this a practical concern?  I know some of you guys are running larger rubber - have you seen any issues with this?  It seems like it would be more of a theoretical issue/ CYA recommendation than a real life issue.

On the other hand, I have my kids in the truck plenty and don't want to do anything unnecessarily stupid.    No one said a word about it with my last truck, but it was pre-ABS.

Thanks for any and all opinions.

Mark.

Your speedo will read slower than what you're actually going, and the ABS won't work quite right, on the other hand that is quite a bit more rubber on the tire and will require more brake force to slow them down which will negate some of the need for ABS.  On snow and ice it will still work like it's supposed to.

The only thing, I can't remember if you need a mild lift to clear those 33"s.  Though I'm sure someone will be along to chime in on that.

You will definately need a body or suspension lift kit to clear 33's and a
stabilizer for your front end. You'll will lose some horsepower and gas
mileage on top of that. If your 04 is 4x4 it would make sense, but if not
why do it.
