Wazzup?

I've had my 2000 Frontier for 6 years this spring.  I've never had a vehicle for 6 years, and I have never put this many miles on a single vehicle that I've owned.  It is also the most trouble-free vehicle I've ever owned.  It had 9,000+ miles when I bought it, and currently has 125,000

Mostly, I've had air conditioner issues...thermister, fan speed switch, and both refrigerant hoses.  All at different times.  Oh, and 2 relays.

When I did the front brake pads at 92,000 miles (still haven't done the back brakes), the left side caliper had been assembled incorrectly and had worn the pad down at an angle.  This never affected the braking until about 91,500 miles, when I started to notice a slight pull to the side under hard highway-speed braking.  A new caliper was pretty cheap.

I went to a slightly larger set of tires on the stock rims.  I had always thought the stock size tires looked like little donuts in the huge wheel wells.

The headlights get cloudy, but off-the-shelf plastic cleaner gets them almost like new.

The dashboard gauges freeze up once in a while.  It's a pain in the butt, but it's a problem I just kind of live with.  We tried cleaning the wire harness, which made it a little better, but I have found that dimming the dash lights helps.  It only happens once a month or so.

Other than common maintenance things, I have had so little trouble from this truck!  I bought it because my sister and her husband drove their 1987.5 hardbody for 300,000 miles!  Aside from a window crank and a water pump, it didn't ever need much else!  Her husband has over 300,000 on his Pathfinder, and my sister has almost 200,000 on her Altima.

My other vehicle is a Suzuki DL650 "Wee-Strom", but I guess that's for another forum.

..

2000FrontierFLA;

Welcome to the Frontier group!

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

It would be nice if our members would add their vehicle information to their signature (similar to mine) plus add their City and State . A member in the same town might be willing to drop by and help you with a problem. Or drink all your beer!

after the price of gas went through the roof i decided to rent a 4x4 to get me over the pass in washington state. without naming names, (enterprize) rented me a nissan crewcab 4x4.  warmed up an running in their parking lot i was hesitant, but the rental clerk assured me it would not only handle the extreme weather conditions but also deliver great gas mileage.  after i left the lot the low presure lite came on. (tires) i stopped by my local les schwab, aired up the tires an was on my way.  lite went off after i restarted the rig.  one more stop for coffee an i was on my way.  i hit snow an compact ice 30 miles into my trip, engauged the 4 wheel drive an kept going.  ten miles later i came up against semi's, cars, an assorted 4x4's vehicles pulled over to the right side waiting.  seems an accident had traffic backed up for bout a half mile. trooper told me road was shut down an wouldnt be open for at least three hours.  pissed but still wanting to continue, i asked him what was my alternative, which he responded, "well you could always turn around an take the not so used county dirt road which wasnt plowed".  gettin directions fom him,  i locked it into low,  backed up the hill an turned around.  no easy feat but  i managed without putting myself into a ditch. back in 4 high i cruised the county dirt road at ease.  ten miles later i was on the interstate. i cruised the next hundred miles at 5 under the speed limit.  pass was low visability an traffic was slow but i needed to make up time so i kept the cruise off an stayed at 55 an once over i kicked it up to 70.  still in 4wheel drive, i starting feeling comfortable.  gas was looking good so i didnt stop. (something i always had to do in my ford exploder!) needless to say my confidence grew an the return trip was much more relaxed.  i hit compact snow an ice, but never felt like i was in danger of loosing control. i stopped at north bend to gas up an grab a bite to eat, an was actually looking for some snow to play in. no such luck. so i continued home an the drive was uneventful.  once back at home i decided since it was a rental.....well.....haha....why not have some fun an see what it would do.  kicking it into 2 wheel i did the usual right turn burn off.......damm....i was impressed.  so i did the left turn burn.  haha.  same results.  then i stood on the brakes while slapping the gas pedal down. im just glad i dont have to buy the new tires!!  i kinda fell in love with that truck rite then an there.  no way i could turn it in .  next day i made the rental company an offer. ( it had 2,000) on it when i rented it an i felt something or someone was drawing me to THIS TRUCK. i rented jeeps  (libertys,patriots...i realy love the patriots) so i told the rental agent he wasnt getting this nisssan back.  we eventually agreed on a price i could live with.  he moved up the ladder one notch, an now i own a vehicle i feel mom could drive anywhere....like i would let her drive my nissan. haha...kidding.....thank god mom hates snow!!!  any ways my truck has like 3,500 mile on it an im still wishing for snow. btw  exploder has a 5.0 ...frontier has a 4.0  gotta love the down size..haha.......btw....highway...24.5 miles to the gallon....proly more if i engage the cruise.....axel
