Hello all. I'm a proud owner of my first Nissan vehicle, and a new member to this forum. I'll get pictures up of my truck within the next few days.

I've been looking at this truck for days now and I've started looking around for forums to get some quick info about the frontier. I found the nissanforums.com site a couple days ago, but I haven't found this one till today, whoops! Anyway, I'm here to learn more about my truck, make a few friends (possibly some in my area? Western New York), and possibly buy and sell some stuff to make my truck, well, more as my own truck.

A little about myself I suppose: I just turned 22, and I've been thru 6 Ford Rangers in the past 6 years of my driving life, and I'm tired of them so I came to try out a Nissan. I'm a drafter at a company in the small city I live in. I like turning wrenches on my spare time and taking up some trail riding with my trucks, nothing abusive however.

I have a 1999 Nissan Frontier with the off-road package. Its got the 3.3 V6 with a 5 speed. There are a few things I want to look into with this truck. 1 is the leaf springs in the back, I have 4 on the passenger side and leaf springs in the driver side. The truck still sits level though. Another is when I crank the steering wheel all the way left to turn, either forward or in reverse, the front passenger side makes a really loud click/clunk noise. My supervisor at works says its normal, but I don't know if this noise is normal. And the good ole knock sensor is setting off a code, so I want to replace that in the near future.

And THIS is what I used to drive, this is after the accident of course. I did this back in December, before it snowed. The snow started falling the night after the accident and covered the car of course:

..

nutsandboldts05;

Welcome to the group! That's a nice looking Se 4x4. But drive it slow in Texas 'cause the latino LEOs love to give the red ones tickets (BTDT).

Here's a photo shop of the 4x4s I've had. Still have the black '76 Wagoneer and Frontier

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

Look at the steering stops on the knuckles- sounds like the plastic caps are missing on the stop bolts- replace and/or apply grease. Knock sensor is fairly straight forward job if you are mechanically inclined, check out the torque specs for the intake and plenum bolts and correct sequence.  Where are you located in western NY, I'm between Binghamton and Elmira.

Nice collection Lakota, I'm a big fan of Jeep wrangler and I hope to add one to my collection in the years to come. I would like for his Nissan to last me much longer then my Ranger's have.

Frontier guy, thank you very much for the info you've provided me with. My supervisor has had a frontier very very similar to mine in the past, he now drives a Titan. He is gonna point out the plastic piece you are telling me about, since he had the same problem with his frontier. I'm no vehicle technician, but I've done a lot of work on my vehicles in the past, so I'm mechanically inclined enough, and have the proper tools to accomplish the task at hand. Thanks for your help, now I just gotta find a place to order these parts from.

I live in Olean New York now, grew up in cuba. My girl friend grew up out near Hornell, we're actually heading out that way tonight to visit some of ehr family.
