I searched and got nothing so here goes...

2007 Frontier Crew Cab

I'd like to convert my un-switched 12V DC plug into a
switched one (just like the other one). What's the
simplest way?

Use the same power source.

Cut the red wire going to the lower socket. Splice into the G/B wire at the upper socket, with enough wire to reach the red lead at the lower socket.

I thought that would be ok, but I wanted somebody else to tell me that too! 

I'm only running a radar detector and an iPhone adapter so I think the current draw is low enough to share.
