I have a 2007 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab truck and I need to know what kind of sub, box and amp that I need.? My 07 Nissan Frontier is going to be kind of tricky to fit, I know that already but, I still want to get a sub or two in it. I was looking on Sonic Electroniix and found some pretty powerful sub and amp combos but, I just don't know if I should trust them or not. I found a 3000 watt complete Pioneer and RE Audio Bass Package. The RMS was 800 which is what I've been told is good and that any lower is wimpy... Is that true? I found many more on the site though, some with two subs for like $300 but, I also need a custom box for my Crew Cab I think so that'll be another 200 I think. I also went to Best Buy and found one 10" Kicker with 300 watt max (Which doesn't really mean anything I guess) and 150 RMS which I would think is wimpy but let me know what yall think? How much RMS do I need, where can I get a box with maybe two sub holes and still keep some storage space under the seat, is Sonic Electronix reliable and good enough to purchase from, and any suggestions on a complete audio pack that I should get (Including two subs, an amp, and a box that fits my truck but, I would like to have a really powerful and great sounding system for a good price)? Help me out here fast! Thanks in advance. |

I have what you call a "weak" system in my truck... but remember its not all about how much power is running through your system. I have a 200rms Rockford Fostgate single channel amp running my 1000w 500rms Rockford Fosgate Punch sub and it pounds pretty good... I also have a 400w 75rms Alpine powering all 4 doors Rockford Fostgate component speakers... the system sounds great... the real trick to a great system is killing the reverb/resonance you get in the doors when you've got your music playing. Honestly any more than 300-400rms in a small cab truck like our Crew Cabs will be too much and bass can drown out the clarity and quality of the music. I added some additional tweeters to the back doors so the front seats dont block the high's and I can hear them clearly. Dynamat will be your best friend when making the system sound good by helping absorb a lot of the sound that causes annoying vibrations. I did not get a custom box for my truck yet. I just have a trunk box behind the drivers seat. 2 10" subs should be plenty for the truck and custom boxes are the way to go.
Keep in mind that the more powerful the system is its always good to turn the gain downa bit and not set it at max so the system doesnt overheat. You obviously dont want to overpay for power your not going to use too but you also dont want to run your system so hard it'll over heat all the time. Trust me... I destroyed my 1500w 2ch Fostgate amp for that exact reason.
A lot of it depends on what sound you are going for and what you can afford. Once you decide on the size speakers and how powerful you want them... then decide on what amps you want to use or repost and we can discuss more.
