i have a 2000 nissan frontier 4cyl 5spd 2wd reg. cab and when i try to accelrate it acts like it is getting no fuel it just completley chokes out. the truck has 170,000 miles and has been well took care of. possibly a fuel problem??

Check engine lite on?? Any codes??? Have you been using a genuine Nissan oil impregnated air filter? Sounds like possible MAFS and or wiring to the MAFS may be compromised.
Also possibility of dirt and/or water entering the dist. See below post.

APPLIED VEHICLES:
1990-1997 Truck (D21) - with KA24E Engines only
1998-2000 Frontier (D22) - with KA24DE Engines
only
2000 Xterra (WD22) - with KA24DE Engines only

SERVICE INFORMATION

If one or both of the following conditions exist in a 1990-1997 Truck, 1998-2000 Frontier, or 2000 Xterra with KA24 Engine, water may have entered the distributor assembly:

Condition 1: The MIL is "On" with Misfire (P0300 to P0304) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) stored in the ECM as a result of moisture in the distributor.

Condition 2: Driveability incidents as a result of moisture in the distributor occur.

A new distributor assembly (with improved drain and distributor cap with improved vent) is available to correct this incident, if it should occur. In addition, if you need to replace the distributor cap for any other reason, the new distributor cap (with improved vent) is available separately and will fit onto the original style distributor assembly body. See the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin for detail.

Use the following SERVICE PROCEDURE to diagnose the condition and replace the distributor assembly.

No check engine light and i have a freshly cleaned k&n air filter. seems to only act like this when the gas is low, around a quarter tank.

Is your tank venting properly? Is there dirt in the tank? I'm not sure where the fuel pump is in your truck but if its in the tank, it could be a pump problem with overhaeting once it is not covered in fuel or sediment that is being forced around the pump by the lower fuel level. Hopefully, someone else will add their thoughts on this.

I'm having the same problem here....the car will idle like a new one and then when you step on the gas it just says "bwaaaaaah" and goes nowhere. When I let up on the gas (just past an idle) she will pull off and can VERY carefully get her to 40 without reving past 3K. Then I try for a bit more and "bwaaaah", "bwaaaah".

If I'm going along at 35 and floor it I go backwards. Just almost quits but never shuts off.

Everyone was saying MAF problem but I just switched out a complete throttle body with all the sensors and it is doing the same exact thing. Could it be in the distributor with cam sensor or ignition module?

i have the same problem with my 2004 frontier it will sit there and idle all day long once i throw it in gear though the rms start jumping around and eventually dies. it also happpens when i am just cruising it starts cutting out. what do u think the problem could be?

dannyg here rember check or replace the simple stuff first fuel filter air filters and such heck it could be a cat plugged up. a bent exh pipe could make a issue check your trucks out climb under them if u have`nt already they can talk to you when u are under them
