well, I turned a simple maintenance project into a night mare.

I decided to change my belts. Since I live 45 minutes away from the nearest nissan dealer, i bought new belts from O'riliy's (first mistake). I managed to change 2 of the belts with no problem. The last belt to go on was the power steering. Its just a little too big (not enough to notice at first). So when I tried to tighten the belt with the tensioner pully, the belt never tightened enough and I ended up bending the tensioner bolt and the pully was leaning. It had topped out on its silde. I didn't want to run that loose belt with the messed up pulley so I took the belt off. Now im driving with no power steering...which sucks. I also assume im not hurting anything by driving without the pump running.

I know I need a new bolt, probably a new pully. But does anyone think I could have bent the bracket that the pully attaches too?

Im going to the dealer to get the bolt and pully, while Im there Ill pick up some nissan belts

Well, the bracket was definately bent. I went to nissan and got a new bracket pulley assembly and belts for $120. Everything fit beautifully and I have my power steering again.

Moral of the story, buy your belts from nissan because they fit.

This is good to know information.  I have the same style truck as yours.  My powersteering pump has been squeling alot due to a leaky Power Steering Suction hose and the only place to get that is the dealership.  I went ahead and ordered some radiator hoses as well.  You pay more but somethings are just meant to come from the dealer.  Good job on installing the new belts, glad that worked out!  How hard is it to changed out the idler pulley?
