Something like this happened to me. but I didn't lose the key.
When the truck was locked from the out side and then unlocked from the in side you should have relocked it from the in side even leaving the widow down. If (i know you didn't have the key, but...) it could have been unlocked again from the out side and the system put back in proper phase.
The alarm went off because it was unlocked out of phase. If locked from the out side it needs to be unlocked from the out side. At this late date you might try locking from the in side then unlocking on the out side.
