I was driving my 2000 Nissan frontier 4x4 SE V6 3.3L to the gym when all of a sudden I had loss of power and the motor shut off.  I tried restarting it and nothing (I have plenty of gas and battery is still charged so alternator is good also).  Once I got it towed home I listened to see if the fuel pump whined when the key initially was turned on and it DOESNT... So I checked the fuse in the cab and it is good thus I figured it was the fuel pump.  I do have 150 K + miles on the truck.  I wasted $$ on a fuel pump cause when I put it on and tried to start it, nothing!! New fuel pump still doesn’t whine when key is turned on so there has to be an electrical issue somewhere.  I looked in the fuse box under the hood and didn’t see any fuses or relays pertaining to the fuel pump but I could be wrong.  Please help!!!!! Any ideas?????

..

Every thing has a fuse somewhere. For early Frontiers there was a recall on the electrical connection at the fuel tank. Get some electrical cleaner and work on all the connectors. Check fuel filters.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

I was born in the Hawaiian Islands and since I had

nothing to hide I didn’t lock up my birth records… but I’m just sayin’

I checked the fuse in the glove box and it was good but I wasn't sure if it had another one under the hood. I
cleaned the connections when I was replacing the fuel pump
and I also changed the fuel filter as well (both, on the
pump and the external one)... I just checked the PCM codes
but nothing. I will call the dealer ship tomorrow and see
what they say but I might just end up towing it to them.

There is a recall NTB04-062A to correct this problem. The sending unit is the problem, not the pump. If you look at the top connector on the sender, you will see green corrosion at the fuel pump connection. You can see it through the white plastic just below where the main harness plugs into the sender unit.

Thanks, I will call the dealer in the morning to see what
they say and if it will still be covered by them.

i have the same problem on a 4X4 V6 frontier 2002. I was barely rolling over some branches and one caught on the drive shaft and stalled motor.  WHen I went to re-start the pump was not whirring.  Haynes does not show location of pump tho I assume it is in the tank under the heavy metal shield.  Is the sender by the fuel pump.  Is this a coincidence or did I pull off one of the crank position sensors---which are also well protected by body armour.  Logic tells me I have torn some wire and no power is getting to the pump but I see no exposed wire.
