sorry about not responding for so long. but the whole thing probably wouldnt be a bad idea. My truck wont start, there are a few relays in the dash that are switching on and off when the truck is in the on position, and the fuel pump won't stop pumping. I found that if i disconnect the distributor the clicking will stop and the fuel pump will also stop pumping. i checked the distributor though and the camshaft sensor is working properly as well. so im not sure what the problem is. I also have checked all the relays/fuses. but im not sure if there are any fusable links somewhere in the wiring harness. And i have a known working ECM in the vehicle right now.

First of all, a little info helps, 4 cyl - 6 cyl - man - auto - etc. The fuel pump relay is grounded @ the ECU through the red/blue wire. Check to see if this wire is going to ground through the ECU(should only do it for 5 secs with the key on), if it is grounded at all times, disconnect the ECU and relay to see if red/blue wire is shorted to ground, if not, the ECU is grounding it when it shouldn't be. How did you check the dist??? You also mention a known good ECU - ARE YOU SURE!!! Sounds like a wire problem or bad ECU.
Has the fuel sender recall been done??? The fuel pump would not work at all with a defective sender, you say it runs all the time, are you sure it the fuel pump running???

the known good ECU i got from a working vehicle same make and model as my own. i checked the camshaft sensor and tested all the wires inside of the distributor, i followed the instructions for testing it in my chilton manual. the reason im looking for another wiring diagram is because the chilton manual's diagram isn't very good. i didnt check the red/blue wire and im going to right now. sorry for the lack of info. The vehicle is a '99 4wd frontier 3.3l v6 Manual transmission.
