I've got a 2000 Frontier with the 4
I've tried to hook up a obd11 meter to the port underneath the driver side (and so has Autozone) and the meter does not power up or do anything. I've got four wires going to the connector at the 2,4,5, and 9 pin positions (yes 9 and not 16). I'm not real good with the electrical stuff but I've found a couple of OBD11 wiring diagrams on line that indicate battery power should come from pin #16 ?; the diagrams also indicate pin 4 and 5 are grounds, and 2 is J1850 Bus+ (whatever that is?). Anyway, I checked everything and 4 and 5 ohm out as grounded to the chassis; pin #2 has 12 volts with the key on (although it also has a small ohm reading to chassis ?); however, no voltage or ground on pin #9
I've checked all the fuses (some with a meter others visually) and everything seems ok. Does anyone have any ideas? or does anyone have 2000 frontier that could look to see if their OBD11 connector is wired the same way?

the previous description of how my obd2 connector is wired was backwards. Sorry, I was looking at the male connector. Anyway, on the 16 pin female connector mounted under the fuse panel on the drivers side, I have a wire coming in at the 4,5,7, and 16 position; 4 and 5 are grounds and they both check out as grounded to the chassis. I have 12 volts on pin # 7 and after doing research I think this is where the actual data is transferred. The problem is there is no power on pin # 16 which is suppose to be the power source. I'll try checking fuses again but any other ideas wouls be appreciated.

Are you using the OBD2 connector or the rectangular shaped OBD1 connector? There was a cut off date as to the use of the OBD2 connector. Try scanning at the OBD1 connector, should be behind the fuse cover and see what happens.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

The problem was I was so busy looking for a blown fuse or cut wire that I didn't notice the missing fuse. The fuse that is tied into the power supply (pin # 16) for the OBD2 connector on my truck is the 7.5 amp Room Lamp fuse on the right hand side of the fuse box under the dash on the drivers side. For some reason this fuse was taken out by the previous owner. I think the Room Lamp is the dome light? which has never worked since I've owned truck (I currently don't have a bulb in the dome light so I can't tell). The reason I haven't cared too much about not having a dome light is because the doors on the Frontier are kind of heavy they have a tendancy not to close completely which could leave the light on and drain he battery (another Frontier I had did this all the time). Anyway, thanks Frontierguy for the advice!
