blew a tire last week, and the TPMS light came on after a few minutes indicating low pressure in a tire.  I have since replaced the two rear tires.  The max recommended PSI load for the new tires is 80PSI cold.  The tire shop put 45PSI in the new tires "for a smoother ride".  TPMS did not come back on after resetting itself.  I decided (for possible increase in mileage) to increase the air pressure in the new tires to 70PSI, and left 50PSI in the older front tires (max recommended pressure for these two).  shortly after increasing the rear tire air pressure the TPMS bgan flashing for about one minute, then stayed on.  I pulled over and checked the air pressure in all 4 tires - 50lbs up front and 70lbs in the rear.......why is the TPMS flashing and then staying on?  Is it because it thinks 70PSI is too much for the rear tires, or does it not like the 20 PSI difference between the front and rear sets?  How do I get it to turn off without dropping the rear PSI back to 45lbs?

Too much does not turn the lite on . Not sure about the difference from front to rear. If it is flashing it usually means a sensor failure or very low tire pressure. Try setting the pressures the same front and rear for awhile and see if it goes out. How does that Frontier ride with LT tires and 70# ???

definitely not very low tire pressure......all tires are holding steday PSI.  Not sure I want to overload the front set 20 PSI beyond recommended max inflation though.

AS for the ride, it is weird.....at highway speeds it kind of feels like the back end (new tires on the rear) tracks like a dog - almost like the rear tires aren't following the same track as the front.  especially noticeable when changing lanes on the freeway.  It almost  feels most like the sway you get from towing a trailer, except Im not towing one....weird.......I've looked under the entire rear half of the truck and nothing appears loose and the shocks arent leaking.  felt the same with 45PSI as it does with 70PSI.  Im going to go back to the tire shop and see what they say.

The sensor for the tire that blew out could be faulty, could be from tire being
low and running over a rock or from the mechanic changing the tire!

Why would you only replace 2 tires on a 4wd vehicle and why do you feel you need to run LT tires on such a light truck?? Inquiring minds need to know!

Bought the last 4 tires at 2 different times, and did not bother with tire rotation like I should have resulting in the rear set wearing out much faster.  The front set still have 70% tread on them or so.  I blew a rear tire on Friday afternoon and the ONLY tire shop open didn't have my size and wouldn't until Monday...I went to another shop (at 5:15pm - they closed at 5) and the guy stayed a half hour past closing to set me up with new tires.  Was in a bind as I only had enough $$$ for two tires at the time and the LT tires were the cheapest (at $190.00 each before install etc.) and I needed to be at work Monday morning.  Beggars can't be choosers and on a Friday after hours, I was begging!  lol.
