I have an 06 Frontier and need some opinions. When I am going about 60 mph and the engine downshifts from 5th to 4th gear, I get a bump and a vibration. It does not sound good. I took it to the dealership and they said my cat was clogged (bank 2). I went with an aftermarket due to price and it did not fix the problem at all. They thought it might be bogging down when it down shifts. It only does it on those gear. Please let me know if anybody has any ideas. Thanks, Brad

Does it feel like you are driving over rumble strips? If
so, you need a transmission and a radiator. Check the color
of your ATF and the coolant overflow for evidence of oil
residue. Was the check engine light on?

Sorry for the delay, I have been out of town. It does feel like rumble strips but only in 5th gear. I checked the color of the coolant overflow and it is a grey color. I believe it has oil in it. I am not sure what color it should be. I can not get to or find the ATF. The check engine light was on and I got bank 2 cat changed. The light stayed on for a couple of days and has now turned off. Do you still think it is a transmission or radiator or both? Thanks, Brad

It sounds like the cooler has failed in the rad
contaminating the ATF. This means you need a rad and
transmission and the external cooler flushed. Depending on
your in service date and mileage, you may still be covered
under the 5yr/60K power train warranty.
